The Bombay High Court, India’s oldest and most esteemed high court, recently announced a 2023 recruitment drive. The court accepts offline applications for 50 legal clerk positions.

In order to proceed with the application process, candidates are required to obtain the application form either through the official website of the court or by visiting the court in person.

Eligibility: The following groups can apply to be law clerks:
(A) (i) First-time LLB graduates with at least 55%.
(ii) Law postgraduates.
(B) The High Court may favor postgraduate law graduates.
(C) Computer/laptop and case law software skills are required.
(D) On the date of referral by the Law College Principal or Bar Association President, candidates must be 21 or older.

 

Procedure for Submitting Applications :-
A)Each candidate’s candidacy must be endorsed by a principal from one of the following schools  
i) National Law School, Bangalore
ii) National Law School, Hyderabad
iii) N.U.J.S. Law College, Calcutta
iv) National Law School, Jodhpur
v) Government Law College, Churchgate, Mumbai
vi) ILS Law College, Pune
vii) Symbiosis Law College, Pune
viii) University College of Law, Nagpur
ix) M.P. Law College, Aurangabad.
x) Yashawant Law College, Nanded.
xi) V.M. Salgaonkar, Law College, Miramar, Panaji.
xii) Kare Law College, Margao, Goa or
xiii) Any University Grants Commission subject to approval by
the Hon’ble the Chief Justice.

  1. B) The Applicants should cleared the LL.B./LL.M.
    examinations may in the alternative be recommended
    by :-

  2. C) In order to ensure that candidates have an equal opportunity to apply for selection, the Principals of the respective institutions or, as the case may be, the respective Presidents of the Bar Associations should use objective and transparent criteria in proposing applications.

 

Selection Process :-
Law Clerks will be chosen by inviting applications through a public notice posted on the High Court’s website and in any other method determined by the Selection Committee.


  1. i) Eligible Candidates who have been recommended by the Principals of the Law Colleges or All of the aforementioned Bar Association Presidents will need to show up in the High Court in Bombay on a specific day and time.
  2. ii) The Selection Committee for such an interview shall be comprised of the Honorable Judge or Judges so chosen by the Honorable Chief Justice.

The selection of such candidates will be merit-based. The Hon’ble Chief Justice must approve the finalized list of candidates.

 

Schedule as follow :-

1 application submission date 20/03/2023
2 Date of publication of list of eligible candidate for interview – 05/04/2023
3 Date of interview – 17/04/2023 to 21/04/2023
4 Result will be declared – 28/04/2023
