The Border Security Force (BSF) is inviting online applications from Indian Citizens, both male and female, for recruitment to 1284 vacancies for the post of Constable (Tradesman). Out of these vacancies, 1220 are reserved for male candidates, and 64 are for female candidates.

 

The BSF is a paramilitary force operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Indian Government. Established in 1965, its primary responsibility is to safeguard India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Over time, the BSF has expanded its role to include protecting international borders with other countries and conducting internal security and counter-terrorism operations.

 

With around 257,000 personnel, the BSF is one of the largest border guarding forces globally. Its personnel undergo training in various skills, including border patrolling, counter-insurgency operations, and disaster management. Apart from border guarding duties, the BSF  is actively involved in humanitarian and disaster relief operations. During natural disasters, they offer rescue and relief assistance, distributing food and medical supplies to affected communities.

 

Additionally, the BSF promotes unity and camaraderie among its personnel through sports and cultural activities. They organize various events, such as the BSF Half Marathon, BSF Raising Day , and  the BSF Martyrs’ Memorial Day.

The current recruitment drive is for the post of Constable (Tradesman). Applicants can apply online, and the application window will be open from February 20, 2023, to March 27, 2023. The eligibility criteria require candidates to be between 18 to 25 years old as of the last date of the online application, with some relaxations for specific categories as per government instructions.

 

The vacancies available for the Constable (Tradesman) post are divided into different trades, such as Cobbler, Tailor, Cook, Water Carrier, Washer Man, Barber, Sweeper, and Waiter. Each trade has specific educational qualifications and skill requirements , which can be found in the official notification.

 

Selected candidates will be placed in the pay Matrix Level-3, with a pay scale ranging from Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100/- of the 7th Central Pay Commission (Revised Pay Structure), along with various allowances and benefits admissible to Central Government employees.

 

Candidates belonging to the Open/OBC/EWS category need to pay an application fee of Rs. 100/-, while SC/ST and female candidates are exempted from paying any fees.

 

To be eligible for the upper age relaxation, candidates need to provide relevant certificates for the specific categories  outlined in the notification.

Aspiring candidates should ensure that the date of birth recorded in their Matriculation/Secondary Examination certificate or an equivalent certificate is accurate, as it will be used to  determine their age for the recruitment process.

In case a candidate requires any relaxation in the eligibility criteria , they must submit the relevant certificate as  proof   .
